Altitude Summer Camp

Camp Via West

Campers entering 6th grade through post high school (up to age 23) participate in a day or overnight project-based program designed for neurodivergent youth who have social/cognitive support needs such as autism and ADHD. Altitude provides opportunities to build social skills, independence, and self confidence in a natural setting to help prepare your child for the transition to young adulthood and the rest of their lives.

Programming areas include film, performing arts, sports, STEM, and other concentrations provided by community partners. Campers are placed into groups with peers of similar ages throughout the day. Day campers will have the opportunity to experience all the same programs and activities as overnight campers without staying in the lodges overnight. Day program runs from 8:30 am to 8:00 pm and families may choose their own hours within that timeframe.

For post high school campers up to age 23, Altitude offers a unique transition program called CIA (Counselor, Internship, Apprenticeship) where campers are able to choose various tracks to focus on which include:

Counselor In Training: campers will learn what it’s like to be a counselor and develop their caretaking skills alongside current staff.

Internship: campers will choose a camp activity to get hands on experience with the goal of becoming a teacher or assistant teacher in areas such as arts & crafts, film, STEM, performing arts, sports, and more.

Apprenticeship: campers will choose a vocation to develop their skills within the areas of culinary arts, facility maintenance/landscaping or housekeeping.

Each camper will have the opportunity to interview with the leadership team and develop their personalized experience. There will also be separate housing for our post high school campers. This transition program is only offered during the Altitude camp session.

We offer 3:1 to 5:1 camper to staff ratios for Altitude Camp. If your camper would be more successful in a different ratio, please consider our Youth Camp.
